Bel Aire offers a safe, friendly environment for employees and their families. From great local schools and recreation to active senior groups, Bel Aire has something for every age and interest.

Bel Aire is proud that the City of Bel Aire was ranked as the #3 safest town in Kansas by Safewise.  http://www.safewise.com/blog/30-safest-cities-kansas/

City Hall is the first section of a wider vision that includes a town center, residential housing  and government complex. City Hall is home to many city departments and serves as the primary point of contact between citizens and City Staff. Offices located in City Hall include Bel Aire Police Department,Utility BillingMunicipal Court, the Bel Aire Senior CenterBuilding & ZoningFinance and Administration including the Mayor, City CouncilCity Manager and City Clerk.

Bel Aire Area Chamber of Commerce was formed in 2008 to promote local business interests and civic engagement with the greater community. A small, dedicated membership base has worked hard to build and strengthen the organization. The all-volunteer Board of Directors is dedicated to the success of this organization and is committed to pursuing membership growth.

Bel Aire Lions Club is one of Bel Aire’s civic organizations that are involved in many aspects of the community.

BEL AIRE HISTORY

Bel Aire is one of the newest cities in Kansas. Formed as an Improvement District of Sedgwick County in 1955, Bel Aire began as a collection of sub-divisions. The Pearson and Arthur Heights Additions were the first incorporated into the improvement district followed by Bel Aire Village and Bel Aire Heights in the 1970’s. Growth of Bel Aire has always been driven by a sense of community and independence.

Bel Aire was incorporated as a city on November 26, 1980 following a Kansas Supreme Court decision. The seal of the City exemplifies the sense of community, stating the City was, “Established by the Will of Its Citizens.” Growth through Bel Aire’s early stages remained constant as additional residential housing and businesses located to the city. Bel Aire added nearly 100 homes per year through the 1990’s, moving from a starting population of 100 in 1955 to over 6,700 current residents.

Expansion continues today as new residential homes and businesses continue to locate in Bel Aire. Despite the high number of new residents moving to the city, a strong sense of community and common purpose still resonates within Bel Aire. Our motto, “City of the Future with Respect for Its Past” rings true today.
